SAN ANGELO, TX-- After the dust has settled for these teams in the district of 4-3A, coaches got together and chose the best of the best players for the district.
Teams included: Anson Tigers, Ballinger Bearcats, Bangs Dragons, Cisco Loboes, Grape Creek Eagles, Coleman Bluecats, Merkel Badgers, TLCA Eagles.
The Co-District MVP's were Stanley Callahan a RB from Cisco, and Jonah White a QB from Merkel. Ballinger's QB Edgar Nunez was named the Offensive MVP of the district.
To go with Nunez's superlative, Ballinger's Weston Rollowitz, a receiver; Adam Winn, an offensive linemen and defensive end; Jayden Riviera-McDuffee, a linebacker; Garrett Zertuche, a defensive back; and Cooper Bean, a linebacker, were also named on the 1st Team.
Seth Levesque, a receiver at TLCA, was named on the 1st team, and also received a 2nd team award for Punter.
TLCA QB Kaiden Kirkland, Ballinger DB Kennedy Byler, Ballinger RB Damian Wilborn, Ballinger WR Cody Harral, , Ballinger center Colten Belk, Ballinger defensive tackle Adolph Medina, Grape Creek LB Ben Armendariz, Grape Creek WR Jorge Rodriguez, and Grape Creek DB Edgar Huerta all recieved awards for 2nd Team all-district.
The Cisco Loboes ended up winning the district, Merkel Badgers were the runner ups, the Ballinger Bearcats were third and the Anson Tigers got into the playoffs with the fourth seed.
Ballinger proved they're here for the long haul with a 7-4 record overall. They held with state-ranked Childress for the early portion of their bi-district game, but fell 42-16 in the end.
