Water Valley Volleyball Sweeps Way to State Final

 

GARLAND, TX--The Water Valley Lady Wildcats are back into the UIL State Championship for the first time since 2011. The Lady Wildcats swept the D'Hanis Cowgirls 25-22, 25-18, and 25-21.

The Lady Wildcats started the first set slow as they went down 10-1 early after a 7-0 run by the Cowgirls.

Water Valley did manage to come back in the first by going on a 14-2 run to take the lead at 18-17. They ended up winning the set 25-22.

The second set was a very close set with the game tied at 15-15 at one point. Water Valley ended up going on a 6-1 run to take the second set 25-18.

The third set was all Lady Wildcats as they started with the lead and never lost it. They final score of the last set was 25-21 completing the sweep.

The team had a hitting percentage of .193 to go with eight service aces.

Kenzie Jordan relished her first match at state with 13 kills, 15 assists, 13 digs and two blocks. Kalysta Minton-Holland was second on the team offensively with 10 kills. 

Kirstyn Greenbon led the Lady Cat defense with 13 digs. 

Water Valley (31-11) will take on Neches (39-4) at 3 p.m on Thursday.
