AREA VOLLEYBALL: Water Valley, Miles Sweep Way to Regional Tournament

SAN ANGELO, TX— The Water Valley Lady Wildcats squared off with the Veribest Lady Falcons for a fourth time this season. This meeting at Central High School on Tuesday was for the right to go to the Region I tournament.

The first set was fairly one sided as the Lady Wildcats come out and went on a 20-3 run when the score was at 7-5. The final score of the first set was 25-10.

The second set was a lot more competitive. Neither team had more than a two point score until the very end when the Lady Wildcats took the set 25-23.

Kenzie Jordan played strong for Water Valley scoring the final two points of the set for her team.

“We got a little complacent,” said Water Valley head coach Brenda Greebon. “When I called the time out I told them to go for everything and fight for every point”

The third set looked a lot like the first one as the Lady Wildcats went on to win the set 13-25.

Other key players for the Lady Wildcats were Kristyn Greebon, Kalysta Minton-Holland and Chesney Baker.

“Kenzie did a great job,” Coach Greebon. “She took care of the ball. She is consistent, but it took all of us to get the win.”

Water Valley will face either Klondike or Miami at Central on Friday at 3:00 p.m.

Veribest finishes the season with a 31-9 record.
