CROSS COUNTRY: Wall Girls Take Silver at State Meet

 

ROUND ROCK, TX-- The Wall Lady Hawk cross country team took home second in Class 3A and an area-best performance for a Concho Valley team at the UIL state cross country meet on Saturday.

The Lady Hawks were led by sophomore Shaylee Shiller’s time of 12 minutes, 7.05 seconds.

Sonora’s Camille Harris finished fourth in Class 3A with a time of 12:00.65. It was the best individual finish by an area athlete on the girls side.

Mason’s Presley Anastas had the best individual finish for area girls in Class 2A in 19th. She finished at 12:34.83, just under six-tenths of a second faster than Christoval’s Allison Vaughn in 20th. Overall, Mason finished 13th.

In Class 1A, the Sterling City ladies finished 11th as a team. The Lady Eagles’ Brooke Rauch had a team-best time 13:08.76 to finish 24th overall.

On the boys side, Sonora’s Evan Shannon took home 5th individually in Class 3A with a time of 16:08.69.

In Class 2A, Ozona’s Humberto and Manuel Torralba had the area’s best finishes in 21st (17:25.17) and 22nd (17:25.63) respectively.

Miles’ Joe Meza finished 23rd behind the Torralbas with a time of 17:28.58. The Bulldog cross country team finished 15th overall.

Eldorado’s Jose Moya turned in a time of 18:22.97.

Paint Rock’s Pato Ponce finished 24th overall in Class 1A with a time of 17:27.20. The Indians finished 11th as a team.
