After Thwarting Clyde's Offense, Wall's Jones Earns Player of the Week

WALL, TX-- Wall's defense dominated Clyde en route to a 28-13 win on Friday to open district play. The win was Wall's third in a row to bring them to a 3-2 record overall and 1-0 in district.

Heading up that effort was senior Tate Jones, San Angelo Live's Player of the Week for week 7.

Jones, the Hawks' third leading tackler this season, led the team with 12 tackles and one tackle for a loss. The senior also had two QB hurries for the Hawks.

Jones' performance brought him even with fellow senior Gage Weishuhn with 33 total tackles this season.

Garrett Bridgford and Weishuhn tied for second in the game with 10 tackles each.

This is the second time a Wall Hawk has won Player of the Week.

In week 3, Sutton Braden took home Player of the Week after rushing for 218 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a narrow loss to Midland Christian.

Wall hosts Tuscola Jim Ned this Friday.
