Sonora, Wall Volleyball Team up to Aid Flood Stricken Residents

SONORA, TX-- Despite a rivalry on the court, the Sonora Lady Broncos and Wall Lady Hawks will team up at their Saturday game to raise funds for flood stricken residents in Sonora.

After a heavy round of rain on Friday, Sonora was left under water after the Dry Devils River surged well over its banks.

That left many residents of Sonora to deal with the aftermath and damage of the catastrophic flooding.

The Sonora Ministrial Alliance set up a relief fund through the San Angelo Area Foundation quickly after the flooding event. You can donate online here or by mail to the San Angelo Area Foundation offices: Sonora Flood Relief Fund c/o San Angelo Area Foundation, 221 S. Irving St., San Angelo, TX 76903.

Those attending the Sonora vs Wall volleyball game in Sonora on Saturday can also donate there. Items to help residents will be accepted at the game.

Initially, the two teams were slated to play Friday afternoon. However, US 277 and I-10 were shut down due to the flooding. There was no safe way into Sonora.

The varsity game is at 5:00 p.m. and the junior varsity games are at 4:00 p.m.
