ABILENE, TX-- An Abilene High School student is in hot water after making a t-shirt for their crosstown rival, Cooper, KTXS reports.
The shirt was made to support Cooper High School before their first-ever varsity football game against Abilene Wylie, who just jumped to 5A in the most recent realignment.
On the front, the shirt shows the Cougar logo used by Cooper eating the upside down Wylie Bulldog. It also says "Money can't buy class...or save that a**."
The back of the shirt says "#UnitedAgainstWylie" with the logos for Cooper, Abilene, Jim Ned and Merkel High Schools.
Abilene ISD released a statement saying the shirt violated the district's dress code:
- All apparel, accessories and visible body markings must be free of references to race, alcohol products, tobacco products, drugs, sex, vulgarity, profanity, death, suicide or violence, either explicitly or by innuendo.
“The message on the shirt in no way whatsoever reflects our feelings toward Wylie, or any school for that matter. We are looking forward to Thursday night’s event featuring many of our community’s finest young athletes, musicians and spirit groups," the school district added. "Any student wearing the shirt will be asked to remove it, turn it inside out, or leave the stadium."
Wylie ISD had no comment when KTXS contacted them.
