SONORA, TX-- The Sonora Lady Broncos came up a set shy of the overall championship at their Spikefest Tournament on Saturday.
Heading into the championship match with Brackett, who they beat on Tuesday, the Lady Broncos had won their previous five matches.
Brackett must have learned from their straight-set loss to Lady Broncos, as they were able to clinch the match 2-1.
After dropping the first set 25-15, the Lady Broncos claimed the second set 25-16. The two teams then battled it out in the decisive third set, with Brackett coming out on top 25-21.
The Lady Broncos saw balance from their top three hitters in the loss. Mary Kyle Johnson, Brae Harris and Raeven Harris each posted seven kills.
Raeven Harris recorded the lone Lady Bronco ace in the championship match.
Senior Camille Harris did all she could defensively, posting an astounding 26 digs. Johnson also did her part, digging out 12 Brackett attacks.

Their performance at the tournament improved the Lady Bronco’s record to 11-10.
They’ll next host Miles on Tuesday, Sept. 4, in a non-district clash.
