AREA VOLLEYBALL: Veribest Takes Second at Bronte Showdown

 

BRONTE, TX--The Veribest Lady Falcons came up just short of a title in Bronte on Saturday.

Three of the four semifinalists in the Maroon Bracket, which featured the top two teams from each pool, were from the Concho Valley.

After claiming first place over Harper, Klondike and Sterling City, Veribest opened with a come-from-behind win over Wink.

The Lady Falcons dropped the first set 25-23 before winning 25-22 and 25-21 in the next two sets.

Veribest then knocked off the host Bronte Lady Longhorns in similar fashion. The Lady Falcons dropped the first set 25-18 and took the final sets 25-17 and 25-21.

In the championship, the Lady Falcons fell to Lindsay 25-5 and 25-10.

District rivals Bronte and Water Valley met up in the third place match.

The Lady Longhorns were able to best the Lady Wildcats 25-23 and 25-19 for third place.

The Miles Lady Bulldogs and Sterling City Lady Eagles fell into the White Bracket after finishing third in Pool B and fourth in Pool C on Friday.

The Lady Bulldogs and Lady Eagles met in their opening match on Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs won in three sets to advance.

Miles then dominated Marfa 25-9 and 25-16 to advance to the championship game against Klondike.

The Lady Bulldogs fell in straight sets for second place in the white bracket.

Sterling City won their next two matches against Coahoma and Fort Davis to claim the consolation title.
