WALL, TX-- In their final match before the Nita Vannoy Invitational, the Wall Lady Hawks took down the Alpine Lady Bucks in four sets.
The win was of the come-from-behind variety, as Alpine took the first set 28-26.
The Lady Hawks, led by Mallory Melton’s team-leading eight kills and 15 assists, stormed back to claim the next three sets 25-18, 25-23 and 25-15.
Melton also shined defensively, tallying five digs. Kylie Phillips led the team defensively with 12 digs and a pair of blocks.
Lauren Scherr led the team in blocks with three.
The Lady Hawks improve to 2-1 on the year. Next up, the Lady Hawks face El Paso Irvin, Central and Water Valley in Pool 1 at the Nita Vannoy Invitational.
Pool 1 kicks off play at 8:00 a.m. at Babe Didrickson Gym on the campus of Central High School. Central will face Water Valley in that match, followed immediately after by Wall and Irvin.
