SAN ANGELO, TX-- San Angelo Central quarterback and Texas Tech commit Maverick McIvor continues to see scholarship offers flood in despite his verbal commitment.
The latest comes from the University of Southern California of the Pac-12. McIvor announced the commitment via his personal Twitter on Monday just after 3:30 p.m.
The Trojans won the Pac-12 title in 2017 with a win over Stanford. The Trojans were 11-3 behind quarterback Sam Darnold, who was drafted third overall by the New York Jets in the 2018 NFL Draft.
The offer is McIvor’s 16th offer and his third from the Pac-12 Conference.
McIvor is expected to still see more offers, as a verbal commitment is not binding and a big year is expected from the Central gunslinger after throwing for over 3,000 yards and 48 touchdowns.
A little while back, after announcing his verbal commitment, Syracuse of the ACC offered Central’s signal caller.
The 6-foot-3 dual-threat quarterback announced his commitment to the Red Raiders on June 18.
Back on Jan. 22, McIvor picked up his first Division I offer from Bowling Green State University.
He has since picked up offers from Washington State, Ole Miss, Rutgers, North Texas, UTEP, Colorado State, Boise State, Iowa, Louisiana Lafayette, Minnesota, North Carolina, Arizona State and UTSA.
