SAN ANGELO, TX-- Two Concho County teams represent the next classification we predict, Class 2A Division II.
Both teams are in District 14-2A DII and made the playoffs a year ago.
Bring me someone who thinks there is any competition for Mason heading into 2018 and I will show you someone terribly naive.
The Punchers are one of the favorites to make it to Arlington in December, and rightly so.
They return six starters on each side of the ball from 2017. That team allowed roughly five points per game while putting up close to 40.
With their experience from last year, it’d be safe to say the Punchers would win this district.
Junction is a team that many people are overlooking.
The Eagles return 13 lettermen and 10 starters from last year. A fairly young team picked up valuable experience in their playoff berth last year.
On paper, that should translate to more success this year. That’s why the game is played, though. Everything on paper means nothing.
Sabinal is one of the surprises waiting to happen in this district. The Yellowjackets had a respectable year with just five seniors. They return 30 lettermen from a year ago and will likely reap the rewards of that youth this season.
