State 7 on 7: Sonora Exits in Semifinals; Brady Bounced in First Round

COLLEGE STATION, TX-- Brady’s quest for a State Championship in 7 on 7 came to an early end on Friday.

The Bulldogs were routed by Childress 40-18 in the first round of the single-elimination bracket.

On the other side of the bracket, Sonora was able to advance with an explosive 53-34 win over Deweyville.

The Broncos then downed Alpine 33-28 thanks, in part, to a late goal line stand.

That win put Sonora into the semifinal where they faced Palmer, who beat Wellington 40-20 in the quarterfinals.

In a tightly contested game, Sonora fell 34-28 despite a tied score at the half.

Palmer will face Gunter in the Division III championship.
