Hawks, Owls Dominate District 4-3A All-District Honors

SAN ANGELO, TX-- The 2018 All-District 4-3A team was announced over the weekend and the Wall Hawks dominated the superlatives.

Senior Dryden Virden took home District MVP honors after a dominant 2018 campaign. The Weatherford College-bound Hawk hit .545 this season for Wall with 54 RBIs, 12 doubles, a pair of triples and four home runs. Virden also dominated on the mound for the Hawks with a 7-1 record. The strong right-hander threw 40 innings for the Hawks where he posted a team-low 1.57 ERA and 93 strikeouts.

Junior Gage Weishuhn took home Co-Offensive MVP honors with Reagan County senior Alex Chavez.

Weishuhn hit .402 for the Hawks and led the team in home runs with eight.

Caleb Heuertz, a sophomore for Wall, earned Defensive MVP honors this season after posting a 7-1 record on the mound with two saves and a 1.81 ERA in 46 and a third innings pitched. Opponents had a .176 batting average against the sophomore, as well. Heuertz also posted a .887 fielding percentage with seven errors against him.

Co-Pitcher of the Year honors went to Grape Creek junior Koby Hasty and Ballinger sophomore Jorian Fuentes.

Newcomer of the Year honors went to Reagan County sophomore Seth Hernandez.

Wall head coach Jason Schniers was name Co-Coach of the Year with Reagan County’s Edward Soto. Their teams finished first and second place respectively after another great year for both coaches.
