Bobcat Baseball Puts 7 on All-District List

 

SAN ANGELO, TX-- The All-District 8-6A baseball team has been released with Waco Midway's loss over the weekend.

Seven Bobcats were named to the either the First or Second team after their 2018 season, which saw the Bobcats fall in the Bi-District round of playoffs.

Senior Jonathan Limon was named a First Team pitcher after a stellar season. The Sul Ross-bound lefty saw the most action on the hill for the Bobcats, throwing 53 and two-thirds innings and posting a 3.13 ERA with 81 strikeouts. 

Limon's battery mate Nixon Brannan was selected as a First Team catcher along with Harker Height's Jackson Rinehart. Opposing runners found difficulty running on Brannan, who threw out 18 runners in 45 chances. The junior also saw his fair share of success at the plate, hitting .321 with 19 RBIs this season.

Fellow junior Cole Nelson was named the First Team second baseman in 2018. Nelson hit .343 for the Bobcats this season with 16 RBIs and 25 runs scored.

Rance Rosas, another junior, was named the First Team utility player for the district. Rosas, known for his speed, stole a team-leading 24 bases this season to go with his team-leading .351 batting average, 30 RBIs, 38 runs scored and four home runs.

Junior Trey Neslage was a Second Team selection as a pitcher. The tall hurler posted a 3.78 ERA in 11 appearances as well as 42 strikeouts.

Oscar Nino was named the Second Team first baseman after hitting .283 in 35 games played for the Bobcats. Junior outfielder Blake Mikeska was also named to the Second Team after posting a .350 batting average in 2018.

The Bobcats were swept out of the postseason by South Grand Prairie in the Bi-District round of playoffs.
