Central Head Coach Named One of Three Finalists for Southlake Carroll Opening

CARROLL, TX-- The saga surrounding the Southlake Carroll coaching search just got a west Texas twist.

According to a report from Brian Gossett of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Central's Head Football Coach Brent Davis was named one of the three finalists for the coveted post. Along with Davis, Colleyville Heritage Head Coach Joe Willis and former Carroll quarterback and Justin Nortwest Offensive Coordinator Riley Dodge have been named as finalists by Carroll ISD.

Carroll ISD is looking for a new coach after placing longtime coach Hal Wasson on administrative leave on Jan. 24 due to an internal investigation that yielded UIL violations before the two parties agreed to a settlement on Feb. 25 to end Wasson's 11-year stint.

During those 11 years Wasson won 121 games with one coming in the 2011 State Championship against Fort Bend Hightower.

Former Odessa Permian Head Coach Darren Allman is the current Carroll ISD Athletic Director, which is likely one of many reason Davis is being considered for the job.

Another reason Davis is being considered for the gig is his 177-88-1 career record through 23 years as a head coach and a 77-30 mark through nine seasons at Central that includes five straight district titles and six overall.

Before Davis stepped into his role at Central in 2009, the Bobcats had two winning seasons in 16 years. Since 2011, the Bobcats have had nothing but winning seasons and boast a 70-15 record over that span.

Davis has coached in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex in the past. From 2002 to 2004, Davis coached at Lewisville Colony High School on the north side of the Metroplex between four-year stints at Sinton and Alice in south Texas. Davis took Sinton to the 2001 3A State Championship game before going to the Metroplex.

Davis' brother Brad is the Head Coach for the Grandview Zebras, another school in the DFW area.

The Carroll ISD School Board is expected to make a hiring decision on Monday, March 26 at their next scheduled meeting.
