LLANO, TX-- The Wall Hawks went 1-0-1 in day one of the Llano Baseball Tournament on Thursday.
In their first game, the Hawk's Mitchell Horton allowed a run for Johnson City in each the third and fourth inning to go behind 2-0. Horton would pitch the complete seven innings, allowing six hits, two runs and striking out one in the tie.
In the fifth inning, still trailing, the Hawks pulled one run back when Coleton Saverance scored on a balk before a passed ball enabled Caleb Heuertz to score to tie it at two.
Heuertz and Brock Rosenquist tallied the only hits of the game for the Hawks.
The second game, against Llano, was a completely different story.
The Hawks scored nine unanswered runs across the first three innings to take a commanding lead. The Hawks would tack on two more runs in the fifth inning to give them their winning margin of 11-0 in the run-rule victory.
Tanner Seider led the way with five RBIs on two hits for the Hawks. Heuertz started on the mound for Wall, going the full five innings where he allowed just two hits and struck out 12 of the 22 batters he faced.
The Hawks are now 7-1-1 in 2018 with two more games today in Llano.
