ABILENE, TX-- Despite grabbing the lead early and beating Abilene over the weekend, the Central Bobcats were unable to overcome Eagle's five-run second inning as they fell 10-5 on Tuesday night.
The Bobcats got an early 1-0 lead thanks to an RBI ground-out by Rance Rosas to score Cole Nelson in the top of the first inning.
A pair of doubles from the Eagles sparked a one-out, four-run rally before the second out was recorded. Abilene would finish off the scoring with an RBI single in the very next at-bat.
Rosas would tack on another RBI by driving Blake Mikeska home from third to make it 5-2 Abilene in the third inning.
Five unanswered runs across the next three innings put Central down 10-2 heading into the seventh.
With two outs and the bases loaded, Rosas would clear the bases with a three-run double to left field to cut Abilene's lead to 10-5. That would not be enough, however, as a flyout in the next at-bat would end the game.
Rosas led Central offensively with five RBIs and two hits.
Hayden Stevens and Oscar Nino each went three innings for Central and allowed five runs each in the loss.
The Bobcats fall to 3-3 on the year and will travel to the Prosper Tournament in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex this weekend. Central will play six games from Thursday through Saturday.
