Powerful Third Inning Lifts No. 2 Wall Past Jim Ned

WALL, TX-- The second-ranked Wall Hawks dominated the Jim Ned Indians to secure a 13-3 run-rule victory on Monday.

The Hawks kicked things off in the home half of the first inning by scoring Caleb Heuertz on a passed ball and Brock Rosenquist on an error to go up 2-0.

After a quiet second inning, the Indians would halve Wall's lead in the third when Lleyton Frazier came around to score after an error on by Rosenquist in center field.

Then Wall's bats came alive for a five run third inning capped off by Tanner Seider stealing home and a three-run home run by Charlie Mascorro to put the Hawks up 7-1.

Jim Ned would make it 7-2 in the fourth inning on an RBI fielder's choice by Ty Doty.

Wall would tack on four unanswered runs before an RBI double by Hunter Gill in the sixth inning drove in Doty to make the score 11-3 in favor of Wall.

Mascorro, who led the Hawks with four RBIs, would drive in Gage Weishuhn on an RBI ground out before an RBI double by Sutton Hurst enacted the run-rule in the bottom of the sixth.

Heuertz would get the win for Wall after going four-and-two-thirds innings where he struck out six and allowed two runs on three hits.

Weishuhn threw an inning of relief and allowed one run on two hits with one strikeout.

The Hawks improve their record to 6-1 and will travel to the Llano Tournament this Thursday through Friday. They'll open the tournament with Johnson City on Thursday at 2:00 pm.
