SAN ANGELO, TX-- The Central Bobcat's second-leading receiver Jesse Scott Jr. announced his verbal commitment to play at the next level on Saturday via his personal Twitter.
"First and foremost, I would like to thank my family, friends, teammates and coaches that supported me through my whole high school career...My family and I have put a lot of thinking into where I'll be attending [school] this fall," Scott's statement read in part. "And with that being said, I will be continuing my academic and football career at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor."
UMHB, a Division III college located in Belton, is coming off a 14-1 season that saw the Crusaders finish as National Runner-ups. The Mount Union Purple Raiders handed the Crusaders their only loss of the season in the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl which is the Division III National Championship. The Crusaders won the 2016 National Championship and have finished with double digit wins in 12 consecutive seasons.
Scott caught 58 passes for 956 yards and 13 touchdowns for the Bobcats in 2017 after transferring in from Lake View. Before transferring, Scott racked up 544 yards for the Chiefs in 2016.
UMHB is in the American Southwest Conference with Texas Lutheran University, McMurry University, Hardin-Simmons University and Howard Payne University among others.
