MANSFIELD, TX-- The San Angelo Central Bobcats dropped their Area playoff game to Mansfield 55-37 on Friday night at Vernon Newsom Stadium.
It was a tale of two halves as the Bobcats held a slim 17-13 lead at the half before Mansfield came back with 42 points in the second half.
"[Mansfield] has a lot of team speed," San Angelo Central Head Coach Brent Davis said following the game. "They've got more speed than us. We knew coming in it would be a tough deal trying to contain their offense. They're not complicated. They're just really big."
Mansfield got on the board first with a pair of field goals to make it 6-0 in the second quarter before Central would answer back with a field goal of their own to cut the lead in half.

However, on the ensuing kickoff, UCLA commit Cam'Ron Jones got his hands on the ball and ran it 95 yards for the touchdown to put Mansfield up 13-3 with 1:29 left in the first half.
Central would find the end zone on a four play, 76-yard drive capped off by a 23-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Maverick McIvor to senior Henry Teeter. An Ezekiel Del Rio extra-point would make the score 13-10 with 32 seconds left in the half.
On the next kickoff, in an attempt to keep the ball out of the hands of Jones, Central kept the kickoff on the ground with a squib kick. Jones would make an attempt to field the kick but instead it was recovered by Central at Mansfield's seven yard-line.
The very next play would be a pass from McIvor to Teeter for another touchdown, giving Central their 17-13 halftime lead.
