San Angelo's Fire Fighter's Association Hosts Benefit 5K and One Mile Fun Run For Fallen First Responders Saturday

SAN ANGELO, TX – The San Angelo Fire Fighter’s Association (SAFFA) is hosting a 5K and one mile fun run Saturday morning at Kids Kingdom.

According to the SAFFA's President Fred Barnett, there is no entry fee for the 5K and mile fun run.  The association is asking for donations only, “all the funds raised at the 5K go to support the Texas Line of Duty Task Force.”

Barnett says the Line of Duty Task Force provides a coordinator for the family of fallen fire fighters and first responders.  The coordinator works with local fire departments and police departments to provide for the needs of the families of the fallen first responder.

The Fallen First Responder 5K is held in conjunction with the Texas Firefighter Summer Games being hosted by the San Angelo Fire Fighters Association July 16 – 21. The Games begin Sunday morning at the San Angelo Stadium with an opening ceremony followed by the power lifting competition.

Registration for the 5K and one mile fun run begins at 6:30 a.m. Saturday with the run set to begin at 8 a.m. The first 100 participants will receive a t-shirt.
