Wall Hawks Defeat Brock, Head to State Semifinals

 

The Wall Hawks varsity football team defeated the defending state champion, Brock, in the Class 3A Division I Region I playoff game. Wall will face Mineola in the state semifinals the week of Dec. 8. The time and date have not been set. The winner of that game will play in the 3A Division 1 state championship game the weekend of Dec. 14-17.

According to reports, the game was initially close, with Brock leading 17-14 at the end of the half in the pouring rain at Abilene’s Shotwell Stadium. Wall held Brock scoreless for the entire second half while racking up seven points each in the 3rd and 4th quarter.

The final score was 28-17.

The Wall Hawks ended a 29-game winning streak of the number 1-ranked Brock.
