Rep. Pfluger Highlights Tax Benefits in New Video
SAN ANGELO, TX — U.S. Rep. August Pfluger, R-San Angelo, released a video message highlighting tax benefits that he says are available this tax season because of the Working Families Tax Cut Act passed last year.
In the video, the congressman told constituents in Texas’ 11th Congressional District that the legislation prevented what he described as the largest tax hike in U.S. history — a 26% increase that taxpayers in the district would have faced without the bill.
Pfluger said the law delivers relief to several groups:
88% of seniors receiving Social Security benefits will pay no tax on those benefits this year.
New and expecting parents can open a “Trump account” for their child that includes a $1,000 deposit from the Treasury Department; parents must fill out IRS Form 4547 to claim it.
The child tax credit and adoption tax credit have been expanded.
Tips and overtime pay are now tax-free.
The Section 199A small-business deduction is now permanent at 20%, with additional small-business tax breaks broadened.
“There is all of this and more thanks to the Working Families Tax Cuts,” Pfluger said in the video. “As your elected representative, I firmly believe that you should keep more of your hard-earned money, and this legislation delivers on that exact promise.”
He encouraged constituents with questions to contact his office or visit pfluger.house.gov.
