WATCH: City Releases Drone Video of Downtown Fire

SAN ANGELO, TX — The City of San Angelo, along with the police department, has released new video footage showing firefighters battling a massive blaze that destroyed a downtown building early Wednesday morning near North Oakes and West 3rd Street.

The video, captured by drone operator Barry Ratcliffe, shows flames engulfing the structure from above as San Angelo Fire Department crews use multiple ladder trucks to spray water onto the building. Smoke billowed across several blocks as firefighters worked for hours to bring the fire under control.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating the cause.

The San Angelo Fire Marshal’s Office is asking anyone with information that could assist in the investigation to call 325-657-4358.

The building, identified as Gisselle’s Raw Furniture, had also caught fire Tuesday morning in a smaller, unrelated incident that was contained to one room. Wednesday’s fire escalated to a two-alarm response and resulted in the roof collapsing and nearby power lines catching fire.

Smoke from the blaze could be seen from as far away as West 17th Street, and police closed several downtown streets while firefighters and utility crews worked at the scene. No injuries have been reported.
