San Angelo Pianist to Perform at 2025 Presidential Inauguration

SAN ANGELO, TX — Local pianist Terry Mikeska is set to take the stage at one of the most prestigious events of his career — a performance during the weekend of President Donald Trump’s 2025 inauguration in Washington, D.C.

Mikeska will perform at the Black Tie and Boots Ball, an exclusive event attended by 800 major donors, sponsors, and dignitaries.

In an interview with San Angelo LIVE!, Mikeska expressed his excitement for the upcoming event.

“I’m thrilled and blessed to have this opportunity,” he said. “To play for the largest donors and movers and shakers in the United States is something I’ve dreamed of.”

Mikeska, a San Angelo native, has spent decades honing his craft and seizing opportunities that have propelled his career forward. He shared stories of how his determination led him to play for notable figures such as Emmitt Smith, Texas Governor Greg Abbott, and former President George W. Bush.

One memorable moment involved playing Bush’s favorite song, Floyd Cramer’s “Last Date,” during a campaign event in San Angelo. The gesture impressed the future president, earning Mikeska an invitation to perform at another event the following day.

“Researching my audience and tailoring my music to them has always been my approach,” Mikeska said. “It’s about finding a connection, and that’s opened so many doors for me.”

When he’s not performing at high-profile events, Mikeska dedicates his time to missions in Nepal. As part of his ongoing humanitarian efforts, he works with local organizations such as the Rotary Club, Lions Club, and Red Cross to support communities in need. Reflecting on a recent earthquake in Nepal, Mikeska expressed relief that his friends and collaborators there were unharmed. “

"This year marks my 10th anniversary working in Nepal,” he said. “I’m grateful to continue making a difference.”

Mikeska’s selection to perform at the inauguration stemmed from a nomination by U.S. Rep. August Pfluger, a fellow San Angelo native. The opportunity came after months of interviews, background checks, and anticipation.

“I got the call back in June, but I didn’t say anything to anyone,” Mikeska said. “I didn’t want to jinx it.”

Despite the competition from other musicians, Mikeska was chosen to play at the largest cocktail party of the inauguration weekend.

“It’s incredible to know I’ll be performing for some of the biggest names in the country,” he said, noting that attendees may include figures like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. “This is one of the biggest items on my bucket list. But it’s also a stepping stone for future opportunities. Once you get your foot in the door, the possibilities are endless.”
