SAPD Officer Who Nearly Died Of COVID-19 Competes In Police Games 5K

SAN ANGELO, TX – In July of 2021, Sgt. Chappa was diagnosed with COVID that caused a blood clot which caused him to have a stroke. Sgt. Chappa spent months in the hospital and had to relearn how to walk.

Now, less than a year later, he is back to running and fighting to get back to where he was before his illness. Sgt. Chappa is truly an inspiration and great example of what can be accomplished if you never give up.

Sgt. Chappa summed it up nicely in his own words to others facing obstacles. Simply saying, “Don’t quit.”
