Goodbye San Angelo and the Concho Valley

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Throughout my time at San Angelo LIVE, I’ve had the honor of highlighting some of the most memorable people and events in San Angelo and the Concho Valley. My time spent with San Angelo’s leader in news has allowed me to explore creativity that I thought I never had which has placed me in position to return to my roots of television broadcasting where I was first introduced to content creation almost 15 years ago.

The decision to leave San Angelo LIVE has come as a very difficult one. The opportunity Joe Hyde gave me three years ago is one I’ll always cherish. His guidance as a friend, colleague and mentor will never be forgotten.

I can remember joining San Angelo LIVE in March of 2019 during the coverage of the San Angelo Rodeo. Covering every single performance paired with late nights of editing was something I thought would be short lived. Little did I know that it was preparation for the next phase of my career in media. The stories that I would go on to produce would leave a lasting impact on what I love to do the most, create everlasting content.

What I’ll always appreciate the most about being part of a small but incredibly strong news media outlet is the comradery among the team. The ability to do more with less to outperform legacy media outlets will always remain a constant reminder that with a consistent and dedicated work ethic anything can be accomplished.

The group that I’ve had the pleasure of working with at San Angelo LIVE has been one of the best that I’ve been around in my entire career in media. Yantis Green, Matt Trammell, James Bouligny, Sonia Ramirez-Munoz, Joe Z. Hyde, Henry Hyde, Sam Fowler, Zoey Hanrahan, Mel Register, Traci King, Mark Floyd, John Basquez and Joe Hyde have all left a lasting impact on me that I’ll take with me.

As a proud native of Christoval, TX, and graduate of Angelo State University, San Angelo and the Concho Valley will always be home to me. The next chapter of my career as News Director for KTAB/KRBC/Telemundo in Abilene, TX is one that I’m looking forward to you and cannot thank God enough for this opportunity. I’m also grateful for the support from my family, friends and media colleagues that have supported me in this new endeavor. Meanwhile, I can’t say thank you enough to the followers of San Angelo LIVE for trusting me with the many stories that I’ve been blessed to produce over the years. This isn’t goodbye but more like I’ll see you down the road.

All the best,

Manny Diaz
