VETERAN'S DAY: San Angelo's Salute Beyond The Parade

SAN ANGELO, TX --  Many gathered on Saturday in Downtown Saturday to celebrate the brave men and women who have defended our country in the annual Veteran's Day parade.

It was truly a sight to see as generations of veterans were celebrated including one World War II veteran who was also celebrating his 96th birthday.

For Air Force Veteran Leandra Hernandez celebrating veterans is a special moment and one that's cherished.

"Veteran's Day is a day where we can all come together with our brothers and sisters and celebrate the time and service that we had," said Herandez.

For Hernandez honoring veterans should go further than a parade which is why she's teamed up with the Womens Veterans Network along with the San Angelo Women's Veterans Society to make sure women veterans have the resources they need to adapt to life after service.

"We talk about everything from our time in service, transition, balance, life now stress," said Hernandez. "It's all those things that sometimes you can't talk to other women who haven't served because they just don't get it."
