WATCH: The Goodfellow AFB Salute To The Powells

SAN ANGELO, TX -- In honor of the late Colonel Charles Powell and his wife JoAnne Powell, Goodfellow Air Force Base paid tribute to the two on Friday morning in renaming the base community center the Powell Event Center. 

The dedication ceremony honored U.S. Air Force Retired Col. Charles E. Powell, a previous commander of the 3480th Technical Training Wing at Goodfellow Air Force Base. Even after retirement Colonel Powell and his wife JoAnne continued to support the base and the San Angelo community 

In addition to the dedication of the building, the ballroom in the event center was renamed after JoAnne Powell Ballroom to honor Colonel Powell's wife.
