WATCH: Investigators Continue to Search for Source of Water Contamination

SAN ANGELO, TX – The City of San Angelo's Water and Utilities Director gave an update regarding the current water situation in North East San Angelo.

According to Water and Utilities Director Allison Strube, on Mar. 2, the source of the water contamination is still unknown.

"Remember that this is not a source base contamination. This was a back flow event," said Strube. "This means that the water did not come from a lake but instead from the customer's side into the water supply."

The inspectors have narrowed down the contamination to the North Eastern part of San Angelo near the industrial park. Four more inspectors have been called into San Angelo to help them find the source of the contamination.

The goal is to determine a source and find deficiencies so this doesn't happen again.

Currently the water in the area is valved off making it not able to flow into any other areas of town. Stagnant water makes the water undrinkable.

More sample have been taken and contamination results will be released as soon as they are available.

The city claims they have a list of suspected business where the back flow could have happened and are taking steps to narrow down the search.
