WATCH: San Angelo Honors Veterans at Fairmount Cemetery

SAN ANGELO, TX – San Angelo honored veterans on Wednesday during a Veterans Day Memorial at Fairmount Cemetery.

The ceremony begun with the raising of the flag by Lake View High School students who are members of the JROTC. 

Following the raising of the flag, Mayor Brenda Gunter led the crowd in the pledge of allegiance. The national anthem was then sung by the crowd.

During the ceremony a number of speakers told the importance of Veterans Day as well as the history of fallen soldiers who were buried in the Fairmount Cemetery.

The ceremony also included a cannon blast and a 21-gun salute.

Throughout the Fairmount Cemetery's 50 acres, hundreds of American flags were set up on veterans graves to honor them.
