Friends Come to Aid of 14-Year-Old San Angelo Boy Badly Injured With Gunshot Wound
SAN ANGELO, TX — In the early morning hours of Monday, Jan. 6, the unexpected struck at a home in the 1600 block of Volney St. on San Angelo's north side when 14-year-old Elijah Dunson was shot in his home.
The 14-year-old boy was alive when police responded to the scene and was taken to the hospital immediately. According to family and friends, Elijah has since been released from ICU and is expected to make a full recovery.
Since Monday, two juveniles have been arrested in connection with the shooting.
In the meantime, family and friends have organized a fundraiser to help Elijah's mother Jennifer Venzor with the cost of moving her family out of their current residence as well as with medical expenses.
Members of Park Plaza Nursing and Rehab Center shared their thoughts on this tragic event and what it means to come to the aid of someone that means so much to them.
The benefit organized by employees of Park Plaza Nursing and Rehab Center, where Venzor is employed, have scheduled the fundraising event for Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Park Plaza Nursing and Rehab facility located at 2210 N. Howard St. from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
