San Angelo Gas Prices Drop, but Texas Faces Most Expensive October on Record

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Today’s statewide gas price average in Texas is $3.70 for a gallon of regular unleaded, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.

That price is six cents less than a week ago and $1.10 more per gallon than on this day last year. Texas is now one of 16 states with average gas prices under $4 a gallon, and it is the third least expensive U.S. state for gasoline behind North Carolina and Georgia.

Of the major metropolitan areas surveyed in Texas, drivers in El Paso are paying the most on average at $4.11 per gallon, while drivers in Sherman-Denison are paying the least at $3.46 per gallon. Drivers in San Angelo are paying $3.67 per gallon. That price is 25 cents less than a week ago but still 96 cents more expensive than this time last year.

The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $4.22, which is five cents lower than last week and $1.19 more compared to this day last year.

“The statewide price average has dropped by about 25 cents in the last month, but this month is shaping up to be the most expensive October ever for Texas gas prices, with an average statewide price of about $3.81, which is $1.16 higher than the October 2025 average price,” said Daniel Armbruster, spokesperson for AAA Texas. “However, fuel prices typically drop in November and December as demand drops.”
