Angelo State Cheer Team to Host Three Winter Clinics for Students

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State University Cheer Team will host three winter cheer clinics in November and January for area elementary, middle school, high school and college students.

The clinics will take place at the Ben Kelly Center for Human Performance, 2050 S. Johnson St., on the ASU campus. Advance registration is required, with registration now open for the two November events.

The first event, a recruitment clinic, is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 14, from 4 to 6 p.m., with check-in beginning at 3:45 p.m.

The clinic is open to students in grades nine through 12 and college students. Participants will work on group stunts, baskets, pyramids and tumbling to develop skills for high school cheerleading and college tryouts.

Registration costs $30 per person and remains open through Nov. 13. Participants younger than 18 must have a parent present.

The Mini Spirit Camp, originally scheduled for Oct. 9, has been rescheduled for Saturday, Nov. 21, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Check-in begins at 10 a.m.

The camp is open to students in kindergarten through sixth grade and will cover cheerleading, dance, tumbling and stunting fundamentals. Participants will also take part in spirit-building activities with members of ASU's cheer, dance and mascot programs.

Registration costs $30 per person and closes Nov. 18. Proceeds will support the ASU Cheer Team's participation in the 2027 NCA Collegiate Nationals competition.

The final clinic, an open practice session, is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 23, from 2 to 4 p.m., with check-in beginning at 1:30 p.m.

The free clinic is open to students in grades seven through 12 and college students. Participants will practice group stunts, baskets, pyramids and tumbling while developing skills for high school cheerleading or potential recruitment to the ASU Cheer Team.

Registration for the January clinic opens Dec. 4. Participants younger than 18 must have a parent present.

Registration forms and additional information for all three events are available through Angelo State University's winter cheer clinics announcement.
