Paxton to Stop in San Angelo on 'Come and Take It' Bus Tour

SAN ANGELO, TX — Republican U.S. Senate nominee Ken Paxton will bring his “Come and Take It” bus tour to San Angelo as part of an 18-day swing that begins Saturday and includes more than 30 stops across Texas before ending at the Alamo on Nov. 2, the eve of Election Day.

The tour launches in Rockwall two days before early voting begins Monday. Stops will include special guests to be announced later and cover cities including Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, El Paso, Amarillo, Lubbock, Odessa, Abilene, Wichita Falls, Brownsville, McAllen, Laredo, Corpus Christi, Victoria, Tyler and Beaumont.

A specific date and location have not been announced for San Angelo.

Paxton’s campaign framed the tour around the Texas Revolution slogan, saying in a statement: “When they come after Texans, Ken Paxton goes after them.”

The message draws on his record as attorney general suing opioid companies, Big Tech and the Biden administration.

“In Texas, ‘come and take it’ has never been a slogan,” Paxton said. “It’s a promise.”

He contrasted himself with Democratic nominee James Talarico, accusing the Austin lawmaker of being “bankrolled by national Democrats and Silicon Valley billionaires.” That referred to $11.5 million in donations from LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman to a super PAC supporting Talarico. Talarico’s campaign has said the Democrat has no control over super PAC contributions under federal law and wants to ban them.

“He won’t fight for you. He’ll fight for them,” Paxton said. “So my message to anyone who comes after Texas is the same one Texans have been sending for almost two hundred years: Come and take it.”

Paxton has cast the race as a last stand against a Democratic siege. Public polls have shown Talarico, who is seeking his party’s first statewide win since 1994, narrowly leading.
