Fire Destroys Winters Home

WINTERS, TX — A single-family home in the 500 block of Parsonage Street was destroyed by fire Tuesday night, but crews kept the blaze from spreading to nearby structures, the Winters Volunteer Fire Department reported.

Firefighters were dispatched at about 8:40 p.m. Oct. 6 and found heavy smoke and flames at the front of the house. Crews attacked the fire from the front and contained it. The structure was a total loss.

A state fire investigator determined the fire was accidental. No injuries were reported.

Winters police, the Runnels County Sheriff’s Office, North Runnels EMS, and Runnels County dispatchers assisted at the scene.

The fire department asked residents to stay clear of active fire scenes, saying onlookers can hinder crews’ ability to work safely.
