You Can Help Shape the City's Future

SAN ANGELO, TX — The city is launching the San Angelo Community Plan and inviting residents to help create a shared vision for the city’s future.

The community-driven effort will bring priorities for growth and development, transportation and mobility, parks and open spaces, economic opportunity, infrastructure, and quality of life into one coordinated framework to guide future decisions, city officials stated.

A community launch party is scheduled for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 29 at Fort Concho National Historic Landmark, 630 S. Oakes St. The family-friendly event will include interactive displays and conversations with the project team.

“Great communities don’t happen by accident. They are shaped by the people who care about them,” Planning and Development Services Director Aaron Vannoy said. “We encourage residents to get involved and help create a vision that reflects what makes San Angelo special and where we want to go in the future.”

Residents can also take part by visiting the project website, signing up for announcements, completing a community survey expected in November, attending public meetings, joining a virtual open house in the weeks after kickoff events, and following social media and text updates.

The virtual open house will share information from in-person events and accept feedback at residents’ convenience.

Officials said input from longtime and newer residents will shape recommendations throughout the process. The plan will include focused recommendations on land use and development, transportation networks, parks and recreation, and other community priorities.
