Chadbourne Street Work on Schedule at Harris Intersection

SAN ANGELO, TX — Work at the Harris Avenue intersection on Chadbourne Street remains on schedule for completion the week of Sept. 21, city officials stated Friday. 

Three of the four crosswalks are complete. The fourth will be finished when the eastern section of Harris Avenue is poured. Intersection corners are nearly finished, and the driveway to Blaine’s parking lot is complete. 

Decorative star work framing has begun. The star and surround will be poured by the end of next week. All roadway excavation on the east side of the intersection is complete. Road base will be brought in and set to elevations for paving in the coming weeks. 

Sidewalk work on the east side has begun. Additional curbing and sidewalk tie-ins will be completed in the next couple of weeks after the intersection is finished. Work at the intersection began ahead of schedule on Aug. 12. 

The Chadbourne Street section from Harris Avenue to College Avenue has all concrete complete and is now open to necessary southbound traffic. Crews remain active in the area. Officials ask motorists to travel through only as needed. 

Barricades are set at southside parking lot driveways near the Harris Avenue intersection, including a church parking lot. Drivers can make a U-turn or exit through the lot if needed. 

Lane striping will be added once the Harris Avenue intersection is complete. Parking striping will be applied later in the project when thermoplastic is installed. Street lighting for this section will be installed with the next section. 

From Beauregard Avenue to Harris Avenue, fencing has been installed. Street lighting is on schedule for October or installation in the weeks following. Temporary striping will allow the section to open soon. 

Work at the College Avenue intersection will extend from Gillis Street to about 150 feet east of the intersection and 20 to 40 feet north. Traffic will have full access from the south up to College Avenue. 

Any delays will be communicated, the city stated.
