San Angelo ISD Approves $103.7M Contract For New Glenn Middle School

SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved a $103.7 million guaranteed maximum price with Lee Lewis Construction on Monday for construction of a new Glenn Middle School as part of the district’s Bond 2025 program.

The original Glenn Middle School was built in 1967

The 7-0 vote authorizes the district and Lee Lewis, the project’s construction manager, to finalize and execute the guaranteed maximum price amendment.

Once executed, the superintendent or designee will issue a notice to proceed, allowing construction to begin. The guaranteed maximum price covers the base bid for the new middle school plus accepted alternates, according to plans and specifications dated June 8, prepared by Parkhill Architects.

The project duration is 29 months from the approved building permit.

Administration reported the project is already $5 million under budget, including a $4 million owner contingency and a $750,000 construction manager at-risk contingency.

Approval of the guaranteed maximum price establishes the maximum contract amount for the construction work, transitions Lee Lewis from preconstruction services to the at-risk contractor, and allows the district to maintain the Bond 2025 program schedule.
