SAN ANGELO, TX - Downtown San Angelo Inc., in partnership with the Angelo State University Small Business Development Center, will host a free workshop to help local businesses stay visible and connected amid ongoing downtown construction.
The event, titled “Detour to Success: Marketing Around Construction,” is scheduled for 3:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at the Business Resource Center, 69 N. Chadbourne St. It is open to downtown property owners, business owners and entrepreneurs.
Streetscape improvements have created changing traffic patterns, limited accessibility and reduced visibility for many businesses, effects that have lasted longer than originally expected. The workshop will focus on practical marketing and communication strategies to help businesses adapt.
“Construction is never easy for businesses in any part of town,” said Monica Ramos, executive director of Downtown San Angelo Inc. “This session is an opportunity to help small businesses find new ways to stay connected with their customers. This workshop is designed to equip businesses with affordable marketing strategies they can use now, in the future and whenever unexpected disruptions arise.”
Certified business advisers from the ASU Small Business Development Center will lead the session. Participants will learn low-cost promotional ideas to increase visibility, customer communication tips during disruptions, ways to remain top of mind during construction projects, and strategies for planning ahead for future work or other interruptions.
The workshop also will provide an opportunity for business and property owners to connect and share experiences with others facing similar challenges. The strategies are intended to assist businesses during the current streetscape project and to serve as resources for future construction, infrastructure improvements, or temporary disruptions.
The event is free, and a flier is below.
