Texas Hill Country Flooding Leads to Camp Eagle Evacuation

SAN ANGELO, TX — At the request of Real County Judge Bella Rubio, approximately 325 campers were safely evacuated from Camp Eagle over the weekend after flooding washed out the camp’s main access road.

Camp Eagle is a Christian camp located along the Nueces River east of Rocksprings.

The Texas Department of Public Safety and South Texas Region troopers from Cameron County assisted with the evacuation alongside the Center Point Volunteer Fire Department and local partners, according to a DPS Facebook post.

"DPS will continue to assist our local and state partners in whatever way needed, for as long as needed, as these areas recover from the floods," DPS stated.
