San Angelo, Tom Green County Declare Disaster After New World Screwworm Confirmation

 

SAN ANGELO, TX - In response to a June 12 confirmed bovine case of the New World screwworm on a property in northern Tom Green County between Grape Creek and Carlsbad, the City of San Angelo and Tom Green County have declared a local state of disaster with the State of Texas.

An infested zone is being formed around the detection and will be reflected on the TAHC interactive map once it is officially established. USDA continues to update the NWS case dashboard daily: https://bit.ly/USDA-NWSConfirmedCases

This local state of disaster ensures that the citizens of San Angelo and Tom Green County are eligible for any available state or federal assistance. State resources have responded to the affected area, and further state and federal resources are on the way to assist our community. 

Local elected officials have been in contact with the state and are currently coordinating efforts with state and federal partners.
