San Angelo Museum to Host June Family Day

SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts invites the public to attend the free Family Day on Saturday, June 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Education Studio, located in the breezeway at 1 Love Street.

"This month's Family Day theme is Sketch a Wave! Come beat the heat with some creativity and summer fun with hands-on art activities designed for all ages," SAMFA stated in a press release. "Visitors are encouraged to stop by the Concho Clay Studio throughout the event for free drop-in clay activities. No registration is required."

A highlight of the day will be the Family Day Chalk Art Competition, which begins at 10:30 a.m.

Participants can sign up during the event and will have until 1:30 p.m. to complete their artwork.

Each artist will receive chalk and an 18-inch by 18-inch drawing space, though participants are welcome to bring their own chalk supplies.

According to the press release, local artist Ashley Perales will judge the competition, and prizes will be awarded to the top four entries.

Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

In addition to art activities, guests can browse a free children's book giveaway in SAMFA's Grand Hall. The books were provided by the San Angelo Adult Literacy Council and anonymous donors.

Light refreshments will be available while supplies last.

Activities are subject to change, and additional surprise activities may be offered throughout the day.
