SAN ANGELO, TX - Dr. Khaled Aboulnasr, previously chair of the Department of Marketing at Florida Gulf Coast University, has been appointed as the new dean of Angelo State University's Norris-Vincent College of Business (NVCOB), effective Aug. 1.
As the dean, Aboulnasr will plan, organize and direct the college's three academic departments that offer 20 undergraduate and graduate degree and certificate programs - and also include ASU's commercial aviation and air traffic operations programs, as well as Air Force ROTC Detachment 847. He will also oversee curriculum and faculty development, as well as compliance with all relevant accreditation standards for the departments that include:
Dr. Don Topliff, ASU provost and vice president for academic affairs, announced Aboulnasr's appointment.
"Dr. Aboulnasr brings many years of administrative leadership experience from a very successful program," Topliff said. "His community involvement and faculty development expertise also make him the right person to lead the Norris-Vincent College of Business."
At FGCU since 2006, Aboulnasr has served in his current department chair position since 2014. During his tenure as chair, he executed the department's strategic plan that included alignment with AACSB accreditation standards, led recruiting and retention efforts that resulted in a 19% enrollment increase in the marketing major and a 31% increase for the marketing minor, managed a $2 million operating budget, and served on the Lutgert College of Business leadership team with active involvement in AACSB accreditation and reaccreditation.
Additionally, Aboulnasr led efforts to launch undergraduate programs in Digital Marketing Strategy, Marketing Analytics & AI, and Business Development & Sales. He also worked to align curricula with industry standards, led strategies to integrate AI into the curriculum, and designed curricula to imbed experiential learning, including a Corporate Mentor Program and partnerships with such companies as Enterprise Mobility, Fusion AI and Gartner, among others.
Also an accomplished researcher, Aboulnasr has published over a dozen articles in various industry journals, including the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Behaviour, Psychology & Marketing, and Journal of Product & Brand Management. He has made over 30 presentations at professional conferences in the U.S., Canada, France, Greece, Italy, Spain and Singapore, and he is a member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of Consumer Behaviour.
Over his time at FGCU, Aboulnasr has earned numerous honors and awards, including a Teaching Appreciation Award from the FGCU Student Government, a Top Tier Research Award and a Best Paper Research Award for the Lutgert College of Business, and an Excellence in Teaching Award from the National Society of Leadership and Success.
Aboulnasr holds a bachelor's degree in economics and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from American University in Cairo, Egypt, and a Ph.D. in marketing from the University of Houston.
