NEW YORK, NY — The Lake View High School mariachi and Chiefettes dance team traveled to New York City this week to perform on the USS Intrepid at the Intrepid Museum.
In a Facebook post, the Lake View mariachi said:
"Day 1 in New York is officially in the books for the Lake View Mariachi and LVHS Chiefettes Dance Team!
"We made it safely to New York and kicked off our adventure by meeting our amazing tour guide, Matt, who helped show us around the city. Our first stop was Chelsea Market where everyone enjoyed lunch before heading out to explore the beautiful High Line Elevated Park.
"From there, the excitement continued in Times Square as we began our tour of the historic Hudson Theatre. We wrapped up the evening with dinner at The Grisly Pear and ended the night the best way possible … with a group photo surrounded by the bright lights of Time Square.
"So many memories already made on just the first day."
On Tuesday, another post stated:
"Day 2 in New York was truly another day to remember for the Lake View Mariachi and LVHS Chiefettes Dance Team.
"Yesterday, we had the incredible honor and privilege of performing aboard the Intrepid for guests from around the world. While on the Intrepid, we were also proud to help honor the different branches of the United States military through music and performance in such a meaningful and (historical) setting. Representing Lake View in a place that celebrates service and sacrifice was an unforgettable experience for our students.
"To end the evening, we boarded a dinner cruise on the Hudson River where we enjoyed amazing views, great food, and memories that will last a lifetime. With the New York skyline surrounding us, students also got to enjoy music and dancing thanks to the DJ on board, making the night even more fun and memorable.
"We are so proud of these students for the way they continue to represent our school, community, and programs with pride, talent, and heart."
The Intrepid Museum in New York is built around the USS Intrepid and is docked on the Hudson River. The USS Intrepid served during World War II and has recovered astronauts after space missions. Visitors can tour the ship, and some attractions include the Spaceship Enterprise, the USS Growler, and the Concorde, a supersonic passenger jet.
The Lake View High School Chiefettes Dance Team also performed and posted on their second day in New York.
"Day 2 in New York was such an unforgettable experience for the Lake View Chiefettes!
"Yesterday, the Chiefettes and Lake View Mariachi continued making memories across New York City. We are so excited to be able to collaborate with the mariachi as we performed aboard the Intrepid and helped honor the different branches of the United States military. It was truly an honor and privilege to perform for all of the guests in such a historic and meaningful place.
"After lunch, the Chiefettes had the incredible opportunity to work with Courtney, a former Rockette, and learn from her experience and talent. What an amazing experience for our dancers!
"To end the night, we enjoyed a dinner cruise on the Hudson River with beautiful views of the New York skyline, music from the DJ, and lots of dancing and fun with friends.
"And of course … the Dadettes made an appearance, which is always something we appreciate and enjoy!
"These memories, experiences, and moments together are ones we will never forget."
