SAN ANGELO, TX — The Concho Valley Women Veterans Association awarded its second JROTC Carolyn Ann Mioduski Scholarship to Central High School’s Uchechuckwu Joana Ezepue.
The senior cadet was awarded the scholarship based on her outstanding leadership roles, educational successes, community involvement and future goals.
Ezepue will begin pursuing a degree in molecular biology at Howard University in Washington, D.C. this fall. She plans on becoming a physician scientist with the goal of using diagnostics, research and patient care to contribute to discovering new treatments and cures for diseases that affect populations around the world.
“To me, education is more than just a goal. It is a responsibility,” Ezepue said. “It is how I can turn my experiences into something meaningful to help others. JROTC has given me a strong foundation, and I am committed to building on it. This scholarship would help me continue that journey and move closer to making an impact in both the military and medical fields.”
The CVWVA said it is proud to assist Joana in reaching her goals and wishes her “fair seas and following winds” as she begins her next journey.
Central graduate Naiyah Reese was awarded the first Carolyn Ann Mioduski Scholarship last year to help her attend Texas A&M.
