Meals for the Elderly to Celebrate National Volunteer Week 

SAN ANGELO, TX — Meals For The Elderly in San Angelo will join Meals on Wheels organizations across the country next week in celebrating National Volunteer Week from April 19 to 25.

Meals For The Elderly in San Angelo delivers approximately 600 meals to homebound seniors in Tom Green, Concho and Irion counties each day. 

“Volunteers are the heart of everything we do,” Executive Director Norma Dietz said. “They are the ones showing up with a smile, offering a moment of conversation, and making sure our seniors are not forgotten.”

Throughout the week, Meals For The Elderly will celebrate its volunteers with daily appreciation activities made possible by community partners: 

• Monday: Optimum 
• Tuesday: Republic Services 
• Wednesday: Meals For The Elderly Board of Directors
• Friday: Chick-fil-A and Starbucks

These partners are helping recognize the dedication and compassion of the volunteers who serve on 56 routes throughout the community.

The week will culminate in a Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon on Thursday, April 23, at 12:30 p.m. at the McNease Convention Center, where volunteers will be honored for their service. During the luncheon, Meals For The Elderly will also recognize its Volunteer of the Year and Organization of the Year.

Meals For The Elderly has been serving the community for over 50 years, helping individuals maintain independence in their own homes through nutritious meals, coordinated services and meaningful connection.
