SAN ANGELO, TX — After helping area families for over 10 years, the Autism Alliance of the Concho Valley is closing.
In a release on its website and Facebook page, the organization stated:
"After more than 10 years of serving families in the San Angelo community, the Autism Alliance of the Concho Valley will be closing its doors.
"This decision was not made lightly. At the end of the day, our Board of Directors determined that we no longer have the capacity to support more growth.
"For over a decade, our program has been honored to support, advocate for, and connect families affected by autism throughout the Concho Valley. We are incredibly proud of the initiatives, events, and resources we have been able to provide. But our greatest source of pride is the relationships we have built along the way.
"We want to extend our deepest gratitude to the families who trusted us, the volunteers who gave their time and heart, and the community members and partners who supported our mission. Because of you, we were able to make a meaningful difference in the lives of so many.
"While the Autism Alliance of the Concho Valley may be closing, the spirit of support, understanding, and advocacy for individuals with autism will continue in our community. We encourage families to continue seeking connection and resources and to keep supporting one another.
"We aren’t going away completely, just yet. We will not have a Walk or participate in San Angelo Gives this year. But we will still be involved in bringing you another ThAUTful Theater Performance through Ballet San Angelo next month, and we are looking forward to a swim party this summer."
The Autism Alliance of the Concho Valley is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 2015 by a small group of volunteers with the purpose of meeting the needs of San Angelo families affected by autism.
