City Parks and Recreation Director Carl White Announces Retirement

SAN ANGELO, TX — After more than 25 years with the City of San Angelo, Parks and Recreation Director Carl White has announced his retirement.

White’s tenure will continue until the end of the year.

White, 61, arrived in San Angelo in 2000 as the Park Superintendent, having previously served in that capacity for the City of Sugar Land. 

In 2005, he moved into the role as Parks and Recreation Director and has remained there ever since.

“It has been a privilege to serve as Parks and Recreation Director. I remain fully committed to the department, our staff, and the community during the remainder of my tenure. I will continue to carry out my responsibilities with the same level of professionalism and dedication, and I look forward to accomplishing a great deal between now and the end of the year.

“To ensure continuity of leadership and operations, I am committed to assisting in the transition process. I will support efforts to recruit and onboard my successor and will make myself available to help in any way that promotes a smooth and successful transition.

“Serving the City of San Angelo has been both professional and personally rewarding. I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside dedicated colleagues, partners, and community members in advancing our parks and recreation system.”
